Sedan 2014 har jag en återkommande relation till Tranås, med vissa skillnader finns ett samband till Piraten och dennes relation till platsen.  Till utställningen på Piratenhuset har jag bjudit in olika personer jag genom mitt jobb som konstnär under åren mött. Det är en bredd av olika uttryck som besökaren möter; akvarell, fotografi, skulptur, målning och video. To deal with turning 40, the poet Louise Halvardsson spent 40 days on a bench in Berlin. It was a performance that explores what happens when you "do nothing”. The performance is also about observing what’ s going on in a site specific spot, as well as being observed. In Tranås, the plan is to sit for 40 minutes a day for at least four of the festival days (just walk past the bench and see if she’s there at 12 noon!) .The same bench at the same time in Storgatan by the square. The rules for this performance is simple: Do nothing! You’re not allowed to talk to people unless they talk to you first. If people already know Louise, they are allowed to join her on the bench but also need to sit in silence. Every day she will write about her experience and post on Instagram and Facebook, using the hashtag #40minutesonabenchinstorgatan Festival participants, as well as people visiting the festival are very welcome to join this performance. Louise Halvardsson’s latest book is ”40 dagar på en bänk i Berlin – ett tidsdokument” (Poesiwerken Publishing, 2024).

An Inverted Archaeology of Writing

Ping på Ban Thai är glad över att många från Fringe besöker mig och att restaurangen har kommit att bli något av en knutpunkt i festivalen. Ping har länge intresserat sig för te och har samlat på sig en mängd teer från olika delar av Kina. Som tack till Fringedeltagarna vill Ping gärna bjuda på en liten teceremoni och berätta mer om teets väsen.

This solo performance piece is the autobiographical story of a traumatized young woman forming connection and trust with a best friend whose love permanently changed her life before he died from AIDS in the 1990s. It uses the Welsh concept of Cynefin, the person with whom you most trust with who you are in the world. Their handwritten letters to each other over many years are used to illustrate this piece about the endurance of love, When Brett comes into the main character’s life, as college students, Jo-Anne is introduced to the notion of opening up, of bravery. Of taking risks. Brett coaxes Jo-Anne out of her shell. She wears Brett’s own clothes for years, still shielding herself under someone else’s existence. Brett and Jo-Anne love each other and he is there to help Jo-Anne transform. Until he is gone. This theater piece is about the bravery to come out sexually, personally, intellectually, and ethically. To take up space. To take the stage. And to face impending death. A crucial scene is when Brett tells Jo-Anne he is HIV-positive in a time within the AIDS crisis that spells certain death. Twenty years after Brett’s death, the main character goes to clean out his belongings from the family garage finds her own letters to Brett which he had saved. Her revelation follows. The audience can expect to be moved by the sadness and trauma in this story while revisiting meaning in their own key friendships.

Erik Nordström från Jönköping presenterar och läser ur sin senaste tredje diktsamling "Djup arom av framtidsflyt". Han kommer även att visa egna målningar som han har tolkat med egna dikter.

Pilsnerpoesi är en form av Open Mic där vem som vill får framföra sin poesi alternativt luta sig tillbaka med ett glas öl (eller bubbelvatten) och lyssna på framföranden.
